Eco-friendly Gift Shop
With the desire to offer Clear Bottom Kayak Rentals to our Big Island visitors, came a bigger responsibility to keep our ocean healthy. Thus, the idea of our gift shop was born. All products carried in the shop are either made from recycled material, a re-usable replacement for common disposable plastic items, or purchased from a company who gives back to marine conservation. A portion of all our profits are given to the Kahalu’u Bay Education Center.
Miriam MorganNovember 1, 2023.Cannot recommend this shop enough! The clear bottom kayak was a total game changer when it came to viewing sea life without snorkeling gear. My husband and I paddled around over 3 hours it was so much fun. The highlight of the experience was having not 1, not 2, but HUNDREDS of dolphins swimming and jumping around us. The shop owner was so helpful in telling us where to find them and gave us several other recommendations for things to do on the Big Island. Absolutely would encourage anyone to book a kayak through Saltwater Soul LLC - trust me, you won't regret the clear bottom rental. Notes: make sure to bring a waterproof bag to put your phones and car keys in as the boat will get water in it, especially if you're getting out to do a bit of swimming. Would recommend going on a slightly overcast day because the sun reflected off the water and made it a little harder to see but it wasn’t a problem at all. And the best part was the service! Chris was extra friendly, serviced us well, gave us great directions and what to look for. He had life vests for all 6 of us, his equipment was fully equipped with extra accessories. He also held our belongings in a container at the shop, so we didn't have to leave valuables in the car. The darkest-brightest most magical place on earth. We saw actively erupting volcanoes and beautiful waterfalls. Banyan trees are the most fascinating trees I have ever seen in my life. Great experience with this business. Quaint little shop in downtown. When we arrived, our kayaks were ready to go with paddles, microfibers, bilge pumps and fish ID cards. They were strapped to a set of wheels that made it super easy to walk them across the street for entry. We had enough people in our party to have folks stay with the kayaks while two people carried back the wheels. We were given a bike lock to secure the wheels if we wanted to. Entry was easy at the bay right across the road. Had a great time out on the water. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting. We love the water and we’re excited to see it from this view. We have a 1 year old who’s very comfortable on the water so we were happy to take her out with us (we brought her life jacket for the experience to make sure it fit). Lori, one of the owners, was beyond accommodating. The boat was in pristine shape. They provide you with everything you need, even a “fish identification card” to ID what you’re looking seeing. The experience was fantastic. We rented all day (9 am - 4 pm). Took it in and dropped the boat off to go get lunch. Then went out again in the afternoon. The water was perfect, clear, safe for a kid. Angela TFebruary 14, 2022.Clear kayaking experience We had an awesome time, the kayaks were very new and Viator/Groupon offered a great deal for the experience. $23 per person for a tandem clear kayak for an hour which was enough for us newbies. If you get the two hour deal you get to use the kayak all day long. We saw fish and corals. Check in did take about 30 mins so plan accordingly. Also note that you should be able to lift and push a little bit as the shop is across the street from the water, about 5-7 mins walk pulling the kayak and you will need to load and unload the kayak. Which wasn’t hard if you’re pretty able bodied or have help (I couldn’t have done it alone). My parents were able to manage they’re in their 50s-60s. The operator was super nice and they sell sand cloud towels too! The store is right across the street from the beach made it easy to load the kayak into the water, the kids loved it as much as I did and will be back next time as we come to Kona often! 5 stars
