Our Kuleana

The year 2020 brought a lot of unforeseen changes. One of the amazing, less expected side effects, was watching the ocean rebound and spring back to health after it was given a small break from it’s human adventurers. Bait balls were seen close to shore again. Larger fish and small sharks were seen feeding enthusiastically. The health of the coral reefs began to improve. While we knew we wanted to bring the clear bottom experience to Hawaii, this inspired us to take our business to the next level. With the plan to bring people back into the ocean, came a responsibility to educate our fellow water going enthusiasts on the impact we have on our oceans and the things we can do to protect this paradise while we enjoy it.

Our gift shop carries only items that are either made from recycled material, reusable, or purchased from a company who gives back to marine conservation. We have wonderful items from Upcycle HI, including items made from fused plastic and melted marine debris. We are also an authorized distributor for Sand Cloud. Sand Cloud has made a mission of giving back through their #savethefishies program. Check out our reusable items such as our one of a kind water bottles and hand blown glass straws.

* a portion of our profits are donated back to the Kohala Center’s Kahalu’u Bay Education Center. For nearly 20 years, they have been volunteering their time to educate beachgoers on how to care for the reef, avoid contact with marine life, and to use reef friendly sunscreen.
